Wrapping up 2024 and Getting Ready for 2025
By Coach Michelle
We are halfway through November, and some of us have hung up our racing shoes and are focusing on rest, recovery, and spending more time with family and friends. The Russell Run Club uses this downtime to catch up on our bookkeeping and administration.
So far, we have updated our website with our group run and event schedule. We also added some of the fantastic photographs collected by our members. It is a work in progress, but feel free to check it out: www.russellrunclub.com
We will be rolling out much information in the coming days, weeks, and months. As the club grows, we must create by-laws, guidelines, policies, and regulations. These documents ensure the organization's smooth operation, safety, and growth. They provide structure, ensure fair and consistent decision-making, and help protect the club's members and reputation.
2025 Membership registration will be opening soon. Later, more information about the cost and benefits will be provided.
We will soon open registration for our 2025 Spring Running Clinics and Youth Programs. For some, you will notice some changes. I have learnt a lot from every program—the wins and the "failures." I use what I know to tweak and fine-tune for next time, so each clinic and run keeps improving. It’s all about ensuring everyone has a great time and feels supported and respected.
The theme for 2024 was to be challenged and have fun—not so much as runners but as event organizers. We did it with the Beer Mile and the Prescott-Russell Relay, which will return. Next year, the Snowshoe Squall will be held in March. Then, possibly one more crazy challenge in June involving racing the sun around a track. Of course, we have our tried-and-true Russell Run in October.
Exciting stuff for 2025. Stay tuned.
