Russell Run Club's Weekly Run-Down August 18, 2024

Updated: Aug 19

The rain didn't keep the Russell Run Club and the running community indoors. They still completed their training, competing, and volunteering. Check out our stories below.

We even have a new addition to the blog—Gear Run-Down. In this segment, our members share their apparel, shoes, and tech.

Club News

Supporting the Limoges Recreation Committee's Colour Run

High fives aren't just for running farther or faster. Supporting the running community is also worth a shout out. Our own Tara-Lynn Paul is a perfect example. Tara gave up her Sunday to volunteer at the Limoges Recreation Committee's Colour Run held in Limoges, ON.

New York Central Fitness Trail parkrun

New York Central Fitness Trail parkrun No. 122 has to be the wettest parkrun on record.

The volunteers gathered in the rain, wondering whether it was worth unloading the equipment, but two runners joined our tail walker to brave the elements, making it all worthwhile.

Parkrun is a free timed 5km run, walk or jog every Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. To register, go to https://www.parkrun.ca/register/. You only have to do it once. Remember to bring your barcode or take a snapshot of it on your phone.

Member's Achievements

Avonmore Berry Farm's Run The Farm 5km

Congratulations to Clair Sadler who completed the Run the Farm 5km on Saturday in a time of 38:35. Clair says the course was fun despite the rain, mud, grass and uneven ground that marked the course.

Worlds Masters Athletics Championship

Our own Maurice Bonneville is in Gothenburg, Switzerland, this week, competing in the World Masters Athletics Championships. Maurice so far has competed in three events:

800m 3:40.98

5000m 25:47.93

10km 51:32

There is a reason we call him Mauchine!

Congratulations, Maurice. We're cheering you on from Canada.

You can get more information on the competition here.

Did you run a race or event this past weekend? What about

a PR or milestone? How about just a great run/walk in a new location? Feel free to share in the comments.
