Snowshoe Squall: It's going to be amazing!
While some may be complaining about shovelling, we're excited that we have tons of snow for the Snowshoe Squall. The race will take place on Saturday, February 22nd and with all this snow, the conditions are going to make for a fantastic event. Choose the 5km or 10km distance and register the kids in the 1km Youth challenge.

The forecast is looking good, with single-digit highs for race day. We couldn't ask for better weather for this family-friendly event.

Online Registration Closes Friday, February 21st at 8 PM
Perhaps we can thank all the snow for the massive influx of registrations over the past week. While onsite registration is available, a late fee will apply, so take this opportunity to get your family registered now.
Athletics Ontario Run Lead Course
It was continuing education time this weekend for our Run Leads. Providing quality coaching and leadership is a priority for the club, so a couple of club members took the Athletics Ontario Run Lead course on Saturday and Sunday.
The course covered the basics of planning training, safety, the technical elements of running, and injury prevention.
We need Volunteers!

We’ve reached a tipping point with our youth programs at the Russell Run Club. We’ve worked hard to build awareness, increase participation, and prioritize quality, because this program is a key part of our club and something we are truly passionate about.
We have some great volunteers already, but to keep growing and maintain the quality of our programs, we need more help. We’re looking for people who are prepared, reliable, and ready to create a positive, encouraging environment for our young athletes. Coaching isn’t just about running—it’s about inspiring kids, fostering confidence, and making the sport fun.
If you love running, athletics, or simply want to give back, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact. Adults and teens are welcome. High school students—this also counts toward your volunteer hours!

Russell Run Club 2025 Membership: It Matters
At Russell Run Club, we’ve built something special—a welcoming community that supports runners of all ages and abilities. We have a membership fee to keep our programs running strong and ensure long-term sustainability.

Running with a community shouldn’t be expensive, but there are essential costs to running a well-organized club. Click below for more information on why we have a membership fee and why it matters.
Every membership directly supports the growth of our club, ensuring that we can continue to offer quality programming, safe group runs, and exciting events for everyone.
Join us for 2025 and be part of something bigger than just running—be part of a thriving community.
New York Central Fitness Trail parkrun
The cold kept us from moving past parkrun number 140 but we really hope that next week we'll see 141. Keep an eye on the socials as we do our best to get another winter parkrun off the ground.
Parkrun is a free timed 5km run, walk or jog every Saturday at 9:00 AM. To register, go to https://www.parkrun.ca/register/. You only have to do it once. Remember to bring your barcode or take a screenshot of it on your phone.
What was the Russell Run Club Up To This Week?
Track Thursdays are in Full Swing!
Despite the snow, we had a fantastic turnout at the Township of Russell Sports Dome on Thursday! Our clinic participants and club members put in the work, building on Week 1’s momentum and making Week 2 count. A few runners also joined us to log some solid base mileage—it is great to see everyone out there!
What was the workout?
Those who RSVP get the details in advance. Want in? Make sure to RSVP next time! By sending an RSVP on our website you get the workout plan AND you're notified of any changes! See you on the track!
