Global Running Day Challenge

June 3 was Global Running Day and of course the club celebrated with a fun challenge.

Participants had to run "naked" - no watches, no GPS - out and back arriving at the finish line in as close to 30 minutes as possible. There were a few pylons marking distance but otherwise runners really needed to go by their internal odometer to estimate when to turn around and head back to the start/finish.

Many thanks to Yves Carrière for being Run Director at the event and congratulations to France Girard for coming back in 29:56 - just four seconds off the goal time! France's response: "Slow but steady. It's the only kind of race I can win." Very impressive pacing, France.

Chase the Sun

The 2nd Chase the Sun event took place on June 13, 2026. How many laps can you run around a 400m track between sunrise and sunset? The registration doubled this year drawing in experienced ultra runners as well as many local runners challenging themselves to run further than they ever have before.

The event went very smoothly, cut just a tiny bit short by a thunderstorm. While the organizers felt the event went very well, we'll let one of the participants describe it for you:

"I participated in the chase the sun event yesterday. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I liked the idea of running around a track all day… but boy, was I wrong!

This event allows you to test your limits in a unique way. You’re surrounded by incredible support, encouragement, and other runners working toward their own goals,(regardless of where they are in their distance). The atmosphere is motivating and inspiring.

Twice, circumstances stopped me from achieving my marathon goal. Yesterday, not only did I complete my first marathon, but I completed my first 50K!

Thank you for Michelle and to all the volunteer for putting on such an amazing event.I can definitely see this event growing and selling out in the future." Mel G.

Rumour has it that this event will be back again next year and maybe adding more time. Chase the Sun (and the Moon) anyone? Stay tuned as the organizers start planning next year's challenge!

Logan's Mad Trapper

On June 20th, club member, Logan Vance toed the line at the Mad Trapper Backyard Ultra in Denholm, Quebec.

The challenging terrain and elevation didn't slow Logan down finishing 8 full laps of the

6.7 km course.

Congratulations Logon on your impressive finish!

~Clair S.

"I've been running solo lately because of the rain so I haven't had a chance to connect wiht the team. I've been focused on staying consistent..."

~Manju S.

"I tend to avoid group runs but I may have been checking in on some athletes. Good run, good company and good conversations."
