Congratulations Norm on entering a new age category!

The New Yrok Central Fitnes Trail parkrun had lots to celebrate in September. It was 5 yeasr ago that this event was started and despite the challenges of COVID and some challenging trail conditions, 200 parkruns have happened!

Michelle sets a new Rideau Trail speed record

Just weeks after an impressive 2nd place finished in the the Last Annual Vol State (505km across the state of Tenessee), Michelle set a Fastest Known Time on the Rideau Trail.

Michelle ran the Rideau Trail from Kingston to Ottawa covering 350km completely unsupported in 4 days, 8 hours and 54 minutes. There were some challenging moments at night in her sleep-deprived state but Michelle persevered as always setting another impressive record.

Michelle's accomplishment earned herself an article in Canadian Trail Running where you can read more about Michelle's recent accomplisments: https://runningmagazine.ca/trail-running/ontario-runner-sets-new-rideau-trail-unsupported-speed-record/

Russell Run Club at the Terry Fox Run

On September 20, 2026 the Russel Run changed up their usual group run to join the Russell-Embrun community in the Terry Fox Run. It was a great day to get in a few miles and support cancer research all at the same time.

Here are some successes, challenges and just good vibes:

"I walked, ran, and went to the gym, track and Park Run. As tail runner, I managed to run 6k by running circle backs with a senior walker who walked for 2.5 k. There were unusual experiences this week, and I am happy to stay home today making veggie sauce...."

~Clair S.

"Took some time off the week before last and came back with a vengeance! Feeling very positive about consistency of training - now to actually sign up for a race …. Hyrox simulation Sept 5/6, DEKA strong Sept 12th. Need a run goal…. Fall Colours???!"

~Tara-Lynn P.

"Not quite ready to let go of summer or our Thursday track. This week was a good one, with our Tuesday group run & Thursday track run."
