All quiet this month as our club members buckle down and get in those final big runs before spring race season kicks off in April. Perhaps spring is following their lead, keeping a low profile until it has a brilliant debut? We can always hope!

Run Club Volunteers First Aid Certified
While we hope we never have to use it, we spent Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Russell Fire Department getting certified in First Aid and CPR. Safety is a big priority for the club so it was time to make sure everyone was up-to-date.
Many thanks to Tara Quesnel-Paul for organizing the event and getting us registered, Yves and Melisande Carriere for ensuring we were fed, and the Russell Fire Department for ensuring we went away fully certified.
France Debuts as Run Lead
On March 8th we welcomed France Girard as a new lead to add to our roster.

Our volunteer leads welcome new runners and help keep everyone safe on the streets and trails.
Club Members Catching the Hyrox Fever
Hyrox - a hybrid of running and functional workout stations - is having a moment and some of our club members have caught the bug. Over 45 people gathered on Saturday, March 28th at the Embrun Sportdome to test their fitness and a number of them were club members.
What Was the Russell Run Club Up to This Month?
Here are some successes, challenges and just good vibes:
"Just in from my twenty miler and a fifty-five mile week total. I enjoyed a nice early morning run in the light snow. Out at six with the snow filtering through my head lamp causing a special effect. A very peaceful and a surreal feeling moving through the countryside making a track in the light snow. Run on in good health and enjoyment gang."
~Wendell L.
"Crawling back into running and getting ready for the half marathon in Cornwall. ! Won’t break any records this year !"
~Maurice B.
"Watching for spring to come soon. Got in a Tuesday night run with the club and yeah no more headlamps. Managed a few more treadmill runs as well. Fingers crossed for the weather to improve."
~Karen T.
"I think this was the most mileage I’ve done in a week in a a very long time. I think I still need to add a longer run during the week. 22km yesterday. Was not easy and I cursed a lot, but as my good friend says, they won’t all feel like this! Strength training is slacking though. Need to get back to that"
~Amy V.
"Sad to miss Sunday group run. On my way to Toronto with my nephew to visit my brother! Did 13km in the dome with Julie Saturday - it’s been awhile since I’ve run past 10km and it felt great - even though we went around in a lot of circles! Treadmill running at the hotel tomorrow. Soooooo looking forward to some predictable weather to run outside. Hyrox training is on point - running is lacking right now but I’ll get there - building to 35km before Chase the Sun"
~Tara-Lynn Q.
"Low level running week. Long run today maxed out at 5k instead of the intended 14. 5 days of easy runs and 3 gym days. Rest time now."
~Clair S.
