24-Hour Yeti Challenge Complete!
Congratulations to club members Paul Lalonde, Line Lalonde and Maurice Bonneville for taking on the Yeti Challenge and completing all 8 of the 3-hour rounds while raising money for CHEO.
Club member Paul Lalonde organizes this Yeti event annually on private property, and from the pictures, it seems like they had a great time!
We are looking forward to next year's event.
Last Call for the Beer Mile!
The Beer Mile is coming up on Saturday, June 29th, 2024. We have spots for both participants and volunteers. Sign up if you're up to testing your beer-guzzling and track-running skills!
Sign up soon as fees increase on Sunday, June 23rd at 11:59 PM. Online Registration closes at 6:00 AM on Friday, June 28th. There is still on-site registation for those last-minute decisions.
If you would rather have a front-row seat to what should be a very entertaining event, consider volunteering. Email info@russellrunclub.ca
Too Hot to Run?
The unusually warm weather caused many group runs and clinics to be canceled this week. We take the health and safety of our members seriously. As a registered club under Athletics Ontario, we follow their guidelines for training in extreme weather conditions.
GoHere Washroom Access Program
Despite our best efforts to get to 'empty' before we head out the door, sometimes nature calls when you're out on a run. What is a runner to do?

The 'Go Here Washroom Access Program' identifies washroom facilities that are available for use, and no questions are asked. This national program was launched primarily to address the concerns of Canadians living with Crohn's and ulcerative colitis but can benefit those travelling with young children or for us runners who have an unexpected emergency.

Runner's Spotlight: Tara Stevenson
Each month, we spotlight a member who embodies the spirit of our community through their passion for running, commitment to personal growth, and contributions to the club. Join us as we delve into the story of Tara-Lynn, our June 2024 Member of the Month, and discover what makes her a true inspiration to us all.
Tara has been with the club since the summer of 2022, when she joined our Learn (or Return) to Run program. Since then, she has progressed through our clinic and successfully ran a half marathon last spring. Tara embodies our club's values by serving as a Run Lead for our Clinics and Group Runs. She encourages and supports new and returning runners by sharing her own inspiring story. Tara's journey exemplifies patience, consistency, and the importance of leveraging the support of her coach, healthcare professionals, and fellow members. It has brought her back from a prolonged injury to becoming a strong, confident runner.
Do you have a story to tell or want us to learn a little more about yourself and running/fitness journey? We are looking for members to be profiled in upcoming newsletters and our blog page. Sharing your story can be a great source of motivation for others.
