Labour Day Chase

We had runners and volunteers at the Cornwall Multisport Club's Labour Day Chase. This is a fun event where every participant starts at a different time, depending on their age and gender. Then the chase is on to be the first runner across the finish line.

The club had a contingent of runners, including Maurice Bonneville and Shiloh Gillard as well as a volunteer, Michelle Leduc and a cheerleader, Clair Sadler.

Maurice and Paul take on the Duathlon

Congratulations to Maurice Bonneville and Paul Lalonde for tackling the Olympic course at the Cornwall Multisport Fall Duathlon on September 13, 2025. While Maurice tackled both the run and the bike, Paul teamed up with a cyclist, keeping the best part (the running) all for himself.

Shiloh PRs in Half Marathon

Derek and Shiloh Gillard ran the Sackets Harbor Half Marathon on September 7, 2025.

Shiloh set a new personal record of 1:49:51 and Derek completed his race in a blistering 1:44:23. Congratulations to you both!

Terry Fox Run

Once again we had a Russell Run Club contingent at the Terry Fox Run on September 14, 2025.

Between the Russell and Embrun starts we spotted club members Clair Sadler, Pascal Dazé, Paul Lalonde, and Line Lalonde along with other friends and family.

Big Club turnout at Army Run

This year might have been a record breaker for the number of Russell Run Club members who completed various distances at the Army Run. There were some impressive finish times and personal bests. Congratulations to everyone for completing the training and leaving it all out there on the race course.

Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail Challenge 2025

September 27 marked the day for the Prescott-Russell Trail Challenge. We had runners taking on distances from 25km to 50 miles and what a wonderful day we had. Perfect weather, brilliant fall colours, and a fantastic turnout.

This was a true challenge, and it was inspiring to see so many different journeys unfold along the 80 km of trail. Some were seasoned ultrarunners adding another finish to their long list of accomplishments, while others were stepping into uncharted territory with a brand-new distance. No matter the path, the determination, grit, and joy made the day unforgettable. Congratulations to everyone who took part.

What Was the Russell Run Club Up to This Month?

Here are some successes, challenges and just good vibes:

"I managed four runs this week, and two gym visits. It was the first Canicross opportunity for the fall season also. Limited runs whatever that means.... is still in my cards, but I am happily running."

~Clair S.

"Well, after capturing RRC events from behind the lens for the last couple years, I have to admit that I have been super inspired by all of you….from the Learn to Run crew to the most experienced, from the super fast Park Runners to the slow and steady that show up every day. I decided a couple months ago to sign up for my first event since 2017."

"I just got my butt whooped by the Army Run half course. I managed a time I’m very happy with over that distance, and also had my fastest 10km time in over 25years. I hadn’t run much in over a decade, though, so as a relatively “new” runner again, I’m thrilled.

~Norm F.

"Running streak still happening…pace getting closer to where I want it….buuuuut extreme low iron has me having to keep my runs short and sweet until things get figured out"

~Erika D.

"Scavenger Hunt complete! We found Michelle on the trail this morning. Love running into Russell Run Club members!!! Happy Sunday everyone!"

~Crystal M.

"This week felt amazing for running! I’m working on shaving some time off my 5K right now. Still running solo, but planning to join the crew soon. Big step: I officially registered for my first half marathon in May. Super excited—and next weekend I’ll be walking the 50K with my spouse. Grateful, motivated, and looking forward to what’s ahead!"

~Vero S.

"On a very positive note , l improved my time on a marathon by at least 16 min. It was quite a weekend !"

~Maurice Bonneville

"Not running for 8 weeks and then running 25km was definitely a choice  but the race went great and the event was a success. Thank you to everyone who was involved!"

~Sarah M-P.
